“History is a mighty drama enacted upon the theater of time, with suns for lamps and eternity for a background.”

Thomas Carlyle

The Clarksburg History Museum was founded in 2017 by a small group of dedicated volunteers. We opened our doors on November 11, 2018 as part of Clarksburg's Veterans Day celebration; our first first exhibits paid honor to local veterans. We have been growing and expanding our offerings ever since. We are passionate about educating our community and passing on an appreciation for history of our town, its people, and our stories.

Our goal is to ensure that visiting the Clarksburg History Museum is an enriching, exciting, and educational experience.

Museum volunteers have worked diligently to curate exhibits unique to Clarksburg and Harrison County as well as historical ventures throughout the community such as Street Car Tours and Historical Marker Installations.

Special events are held throughout the year. We are also pleased to offer tours to school groups and community groups (contact us to schedule your group).
